Peoria #31 Dress Code

As we bring in new Brethren, the question is sometimes asked, “What should I wear?” Back east many Lodges are a bit more formal and require at least a suit. Arizona and the southwest in general are a bit more casual than the rest of the country but we should still dress with intent when coming to Lodge. During the winter months the Officers are dressed in Tuxedos. During the hot months light colored button up shirts and ties with dark slacks are their ‘Summer Uniform'. The sideliners dress code seems to be a bit more mysterious. Is it a Masonic secret? Are we violating our bylaws by informing new Brethren on what they should wear? Well, it is no secret, but at times it seems to be. So here it is: Collared shirts, long pants and no flip flops.

Printed shirts that make their wearer a walking billboard for something are distracting and should be avoided. If your work is a bit messy, be courteous to the Lodge and the Brethren by cleaning up a bit prior to coming. You do not have to wear your ‘Sunday best' but clothing should be clean and in good shape. The best guide I can think of is to wear what you would typically wear to a job in an office on casual Friday. You can always dress more formally than this, but that is up to you. When in doubt it is always better to be over dressed than not. I hope this helps shed some light on the subject.

May 2008 Stated Meeting

1st Tuesday- May 6th Dinner 600-700 pm Stated Meeting 730pm

This measure may not be heard this year by the Arizona Legislature, your continued support and communication to our elected Representatives are necessary for eventual passage.

HB 2679 Arizona Masonic Fraternity Special Plates has been introduced in the State Legislature.

If you support having an Arizona Masonic License Plate available, with the proceeds going to support our 501(c) 3 charities please contact your State Senators and Representatives to voice your support for HB 2679 either by email or telephone.

You can find the contact information by visiting the website www.azleg.gov/ and selecting the Senate members and House members sections.  By clicking on the District header you can sort both the Senate and the House by District number to find yours easily.

If you do not know your legislative district it can be found by selecting Legislative Maps near the bottom of the left side of the www.azleg.gov/ webpage.  Enter your address and zip-code in the upper left portion and check the Legislative Districts box on the left side of the page and then hit the find button next to your zip-code.  In the star next to your address will be your district number.

Please contact your elected representatives today either by email or phone call and voice your support for HB 2679 Arizona Masonic Fraternity Special Plate!

To view the full bill while on the www.azleg.gov/ website you can find it under the Bills tab, select Bill Information then choose HB2651- 2700 and then HB 2679.  Then left click on the bill and on show versions and choose HTML or PDF (The PDF prints cleaner if you desire to print a copy).  The first sections are boiler plate language, section 28-2429 A through E are the meat of our bill.  As you can see, the initial $32,000.00 raised will flow back into the Grand Lodge for the implementation fee and all plates sold and renewed after that point will contribute $17.00 each every year to our Masonic Charities!

We will be voting at Grand Lodge in June to authorize our Grand Trustees to pay the fully refundable implementation fee, provided that HB 2679 passes.  Please contact your elected State Officials today and encourage them to do their part in making an Arizona Masonic License Plate a reality!
